Plan for your pets as well as your human family when remodeling your kitchen!
So, you’re convinced you have thought out every detail of your long-awaited kitchen remodel. But wait! What about man’s best friend – your beloved pooch? Yes, that lovable fur pile that is constantly choosing to bed down right in front of the stove while you cook supper. When planning for your kitchen, be sure to plan for a dog bed locale out from underfoot, an ever-accessible water bowl, and perhaps a snappy pullout in a base cabinet dedicated to the dog food bowl and dog supplies. Let’s face it, the kids might flee the coop, but your best four footed buddy will be around for a long, long time.
Did you think I had forgotten our feline friends? Not on your life. My house is organized and run by Lady Jane Gray, so nothing goes on here without her input and approval. So, what considerations are needed for our feline family members? Well, as for any other pet, the water bowl must be in easy reach, yet not under foot, in the heavily trafficked kitchen. But what about the cat tree that your cat wants located in a sunny spot? Well, you want to place it away from food preparation areas so you’re not accidentally creating Fur Ball Entrees while you cook. Perhaps you’d like to install a cat ledge in a sunny window or another nook for your cat to curl up in? In short, when planning your kitchen remodel, be sure to plan for your much-loved feline’s needs and wants.
Our animals are an integral part of our lives. Like us, they enjoy being at the center of all the action in the kitchen. So be sure to plan for pets’ beds, watering and feeding stations, and a crate if you’re training a puppy. Your kitchen will be the better for it and your four legged pals that much happier!
